I Believe in Better Childhood

My mom came back in the house running and shouting that we should get up and go outside because everything was burning and people were dying. when I went outside with my sisters and brothers, I couldn't believe  what I was seeing. It  was not an image that a kid my age should be looking at. Houses were burning, people were laying down dead, others were screaming for help, and I could hear lots of gun shots. My mom had to go back inside the house to get my little sister. She said to us,  “Don't go anywhere” But my sister and brother were so scared that they ran. When my mom came back, she told us to run and go to Grandma's house  so Grandma could  help her with us since my father left in the morning to go to work in the farm. When we got there  I saw  the most disturbing sight ever; My grandma was laying down by the door, lifeless. Blood was everywhere  and my grandpa was lying close to her lifeless. My mom tried to close our eyes so we could not see what was happening, but she knew we saw what happened to them.My mom was trying so hard for us to make it alive  that she didn't even know that my sister and brother were not with us until  she bought  bananas for us all. When she was left with two bananas in her hand, that's when she knew they were gone. That day, even though I was little,I knew that I was never going to see my grandparents, sister, and my brother again.

That night was unforgettable to me. The memories still come to me and every time I  remember, it's like it happened yesterday. That night still haunts my dreams.

As a kid, I never really thought that something like that would happen to me. Not able to knowing if my brother, sister, and dad were  alive or dead and seeing  my grandparents laying on the ground, lifeless, was something I wish that no kid  would ever  have to see or experience.
I believe that no one should be allowed to take any kid’s childhood away.Kids should not have to wake up in the middle of the night thinking that someone is going to kill them  i believe that kids should feel safe. I believe that kids should have the best childhood possible. Children should be able to have that freedom of thinking like a kid and not worry about anything. they should always be  happy and have fun, making friends and not having to move all the time. Every child should have good childhood memories that bring  happiness and pride. People who take away the childhood of these  kids they take away their happiness, too.

Even though it happened when I was young, this will night  always be a part of my life that will  be unforgettable to me. I believe that as a society we need to work together to help and stop things like this from happening to  children. I also believe that it's everyone's responsibility to try and make this world we live in a better safe and sound place for everyone around us.

  1. This is a powerful and heart-wrenching story. While nothing can ever bring back your loved ones or lessen the trauma of this experience, I hope that you are able to use that pain to become a strong advocate for others that have been or are in similar situations. You will understand when so few others can.
